Originally built in 1809 and situated on twenty acres, this historic farm was adapted to serve as a country retreat for the city dwelling owners. To fulfill their desire to entertain, play, swim, and relax, the renovation had to provide flexibility through numerous design interventions. Newly constructed elements include a stair tower addition to better use of the small upper floors of the main house, an expanded kitchen, a guest house, and a lap pool. The existing historic character is accentuated by the juxtaposition of modern details and unique moments of mixed materials, pattern, and texture.
